Serves: 2.5 dozen
Ingredients
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1.5 cup sifted flour
  • 15 blanched almonds, split
  • Topping: 1 TB sugar mixed with 1/4 tsp cinnamon
Instructions
  1. Cream butter and sugar, yolks, milk, and flavoring. Beat until light. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Chill 3 hours!
  2. Roll dough very thin, cut with 3″ star cookie cutter. Placed on greased cookie sheet. Put a split almond on each. Brush with unbeaten egg whites. Sprinkle with 1 tbsp sugar, 1/4 tsp cinnamon.
  3. Bake 375 degrees for 8 min.
